New Colombo Plan

The NCP scholarship program provides a select number of high-achieving students with the opportunity to live, study and intern for a period of three to 19 months.  Scholars must complete a full-time study component and are also supported to undertake language training and a range of internships during their time in-country.

Mobility Programs

The NCP Mobility Program provides grants to Australian universities and consortia to support Australian undergraduates to participate in short-term or semester-based study programs, internships, mentorships, practicums and research activities.  All programs must be credit bearing, and a minimum of two weeks duration up to a full semester.  Semester grants are also eligible for additional assistance for internships.

Internships and mentorships

The NCP is a partnership between government, universities and the private sector to enhance the next generation of Australians’ knowledge of the Indo-Pacific region. An integral part of the program is combining formal study with work-based learning experiences.  Through internships, students are able to gain invaluable professional experience, build cross-cultural competencies and deepen their networks.  Host organisations can range from government and parliamentary offices, NGOs and health providers, think-tanks and start-ups, as well as top-tier firms and multi-national companies.
